Edward J. Dunleavy

Edward J. Dunleavy, Scranton, died Tuesday at home. His wife, Rose M. Duby Dunleavy, died Feb. 25, 2007.

Born in Scranton, son of the late Francis and Viola Calpin Dunleavy, he was a member of Divine Mercy Parish, attended Scranton public schools and graduated from Scranton Technical High School. He was an Army veteran, and before retirement, he was employed by the United States Postal Service.

Surviving are four sons, William Dunleavy, Allentown; Francis Dunleavy, Salt Lake City, Utah; Patrick Dunleavy, Scranton; and Michael Dunleavy, Wasilla, Alaska; two sisters, Eleanor Cox, Milwaukee, Wis.; and Ann Gallagher, Greensboro, N.C.; 12 grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Ceil Dunleavy and Catherine Dunleavy; and a brother, Vincent Dunleavy.

The funeral will be Saturday at noon in Divine Mercy Parish at Church of St. Joseph, 312 Davis St., to be celebrated by the Rev. Francis Pauselli, pastor. Interment, St. Joseph Cemetery.

Friends may call Saturday, 11 a.m. to noon, at the church. Arrangements by Eagen-Hughes Funeral Home Inc., 2908 Birney Ave., Scranton.
