Edwin George Herring

Edwin George Herring, 90, of Clarks Summit, died Saturday morning at the VNA Hospice Unit at Geisinger Community Medical Center in Scranton. He was the husband of Lorraine Friedman Herring, who died in 1994.

Born in Queens, N.Y., son of the late Edwin and Margaret Engel Herring, he was a graduate of John Adams High School in Queens. He was a corporal in the Marine Corps serving in combat in World War II. Before his retirement, he was a mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service.

Ed loved animals and sports. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Surviving are two sons, Roy and wife, Eileen, Clarks Summit; and William and wife, June, Long Island, N.Y.; two brothers, James and wife, Charlotte; and William and wife, Maryanne, all of Florida; nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the staff at the VNA Hospice Unit at Geisinger Community Medical Center, Clarks Summit Senior living and the Abington Manor for all of their compassionate care.

The funeral and interment will be private.
