Eileen M. Conlan died Saturday, Sept. 21, in Clearwater, Fla.
Born in West Pittston, daughter of the late Dr. Francis J. and Mary Allan Conlan, Eileen was a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania and received her master's degree in library science from Catholic University in Washington, D.C. She served at the U.S. embassies in Mexico City, Manila and Vienna, finishing her career at the school system in the U.S. Virgin Islands.
She had a great love for classical music, theater, movies, "the Business Channel" and good food. Eileen's sympathy and honest compassion was felt by all who knew and loved her. She was a presence wherever she went and was truly drawn to people and people were drawn to her. She touched so many and will be missed by all who knew her.
Eileen is survived by a sister, Betty Floro of Clearwater; her dear friend, Cathy Spoor of Oldsmar, Fla.; and her beloved dogs, Muffin and Duffy.
She was also preceded in death by a brother, Monsignor Allan Conlan; and two sisters, Mary Katherine and Ann.
The funeral will be Wednesday with Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Corpus Christi Parish, Immaculate Conception Church, 605 Luzerne Ave., West Pittston, by Monsignor John J. Sempa, pastor. Interment, Mount Olivet Cemetery, 612 Mount Olivet Road, Wyoming. The family asks that those attending the funeral Wednesday proceed directly to the church.
Viewing will be Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Neil W. Regan Funeral Home Inc., 1900 Pittston Ave., Scranton.
