Eleanor Cherundolo, 90, of Old Forge, died Friday morning at Mountain View Care Center in Scranton. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James Cherundolo.
Born Oct. 12, 1923, in Taylor, daughter of the late Carmen and Anna Maria Talerico Greco, Eleanor was a graduate of Old Forge High School and the Lackawanna Business School. Before her retirement, she owned and operated Jimmy's Market, Old Forge, alongside her husband. Of Roman Catholic faith, she was a lifelong member of Prince of Peace Parish in Old Forge.
A loving mother, sister, relative and friend, she will be dearly missed.
She is survived by her son, Robert Cherundolo, with whom she resided; her sister, Loretta Garrity, Moosic; and many nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her brothers, William "Wimpy," Frank, Anthony and Fred Greco; and sisters, Jennie Pettinato, Irene Lupia and Dr. Ann Marie Greco.
Her son wishes to thank the staff of Mountain View Care Center for the excellent care given to his mother during her stay.
A Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled Monday at 9:30 a.m. in St. Mary of the Assumption Church at Prince of Peace Parish, Old Forge, to be celebrated by the Rev. August A. Ricciardi, pastor. Interment, Cathedral Cemetery, Scranton. Arrangements are under the care of the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home Inc., 517 N. Main St., Old Forge.
