Elizabeth A. "Betty" Campbell

Elizabeth A. "Betty" Campbell of Clarks Green died on Thursday, Sept. 19, at home after an illness.

Born November 9, 1935, in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Daniel J. and Ann McHugh Campbell. Betty graduated from Scranton Central High School in 1953 and continued her education at the University of Scranton. For many years, she was employed as a business communication consultant.

Prior to retirement, she was active in local charities and was a member of the Sant' Andrea Society. A member of St. Gregory's Church, she was proud of her Catholic faith and her Irish heritage. She is survived by her brother, Robert D. Campbell and wife, Elaine; and her sister, Amy Kelly and husband, Dr. Joseph Kelly.

She was "Aunt Betty" to many, especially to her nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews which include Dr. Joseph Kelly Jr. and wife, Kim and their children, Campbell Elizabeth, Quinn and Rosey; Drs. Daniel and Ellen Kelly and their children, Nathan and Anna; Christopher Kelly and wife, Beth and their children, Seamus and Graham; Katherine Campbell Miller and her children, Jordan Miller, Heni and Max Danson; Daniel J. Campbell and wife, Gretchen and their children, Oliver, Daniel and Ella; Maureen Campbell Gilheaney and husband, Damian and their son, George.

She is also survived by an aunt, Mrs. Thomas McHugh; and many beloved cousins.

Her family was the most important part of her life and she loved them very dearly.

The funeral will be Saturday with the Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in the Church of St. Gregory, to be celebrated by the Rev. Charles Martin Kelly III and concelebrated by the Rev. John M. Lapera, pastor, and the Rev. Joseph M Boles. Interment will be private. The family will receive relatives and friends Friday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Jennings-Calvey Funeral and Cremation Service Inc., 111 Colburn Avenue, Clarks Summit.

Memorial donations can be made in her name to the Scranton Prep Scholarship Fund, 1000 Wyoming Avenue, Scranton, PA, 18509; or to Hospice of the Sacred Heart, 600 Baltimore Drive, Wilkes-Barre, PA 18702.
