Elizabeth J. Urso, 47, of Dickson City, died Wednesday evening at the VNA Hospice Unit at Geisinger Community Medical Center, Scranton. She is survived by her husband, Louis Urso. They would have celebrated their 27th anniversary in May.
Born in Scranton, daughter of Andrea Jackson, Moosic, and the late Jack Cottrell, she was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church, Throop. For 17 years before her illness, she worked as an LPN at the Jewish Home, Scranton.
Elizabeth was a loving and caring wife, mother and grandmother, who enjoyed time spent with her family on trips to the Lake Oneida wineries and Atlantic City. Her favorite color was purple, and she was an amazing "Nana," who adored her grandchildren. She always placed the needs of others before herself, and she especially enjoyed her job of caring for the residents at the Jewish Home. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
Also surviving are a son, Anthony Urso, Bloomsburg; a daughter, Melissa Mills and husband, Leo, Throop; two grandchildren, Nicholas and Owen Mills; sisters, Judy, Susan and Mary; brothers, Leo, Tom and John; nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be Monday at 9 a.m. from the Frank T. Mazur Funeral Home Inc., 601 Dundaff St., Dickson City, with Mass at 9:30 in Blessed Sacrament Church, Throop. Interment, Mount Carmel Cemetery, Dunmore.
