Elmer J. Gatti, 91, of Scranton, died peacefully at Allied Skiller Nursing Center on Tuesday, February 4, 2014. His wife is the former Margaret "Peggy" Griffiths, and they would have celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary on August 4.
Born in Plains Twp., he was the son of the late Peter and Clara Manno Gatti. He was employed for 32 years by the former Consolidated Molded Products Corp. in Scranton and retired from the DS&W Tool Co., in Daleville.
One of his favorite hobbies and his most enjoyable was building and flying model airplanes.
He was a member of the Court Street United Methodist Church.
Elmer's family extends their deepest gratitude to Dr. Richard Gratz, the staff at Allied Skilled Nursing Center fourth floor for their compassion and kindness, and to the Traditional Home Health and Hospice in Dunmore for their exceptional care during his final hours.
Also surviving are two daughters, Rev. M. Lynn Snyder, South Abington Twp.; and Leslie Drouse and husband, Edward, Avoca; three grandchildren, Marsley "Griffi" Holderman and husband, Randall; Dayna Capwell and husband, Barry; and Jason Drouse and wife, Margaret; three great-granddaughters, Kayla, Jordan and Evelynn; great-grandson, Nathan; great-great-grandson, Riley; aunts, several nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Joseph; and son-in-law, Rev. Thomas J. Snyder.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 10:00 a.m. in the Guido-Fiorillo Funeral Home Inc., 120 S. Main Ave., with Reverend Fred Snyder, pastor of the Court St. United Methodist Church officiating. Interment, Abington Hills Cemetery, South Abington Twp.
