Evelyn Grace Bowman Whiteash, 89, of Dalton, died Thursday in St. Mary's Villa Nursing Home, Elmhurst Twp. She was the widow of the late Joseph J. Whiteash who died Feb. 21, 1979. The couple was married for more than 32 years.
Born Nov. 13, 1924, in Wilmington, Del., daughter of the late Elwood and Bertha Martin Bowman, Evelyn attended Minquadale School District and lived in Delaware and Michigan before moving to Glenburn Twp. in 1963. Evelyn was a member of Our Lady of the Snows Parish and the Women's Guild.
She was an avid bowler and a member of the bowling leagues at Idle Hour Lanes. A loving mother and grandmother, she enjoyed her home and especially spending time in her garden. She enjoyed playing cards and was very competitive at it. She enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family.
Surviving are three daughters, Victoria Nicholas, Glenburn; Christine Halboth, Alto, Mich.; and Jennifer Whiteash, Eliot, Maine; a son, Kenneth Whiteash, Ridgeway, Wis.; two grandsons, Tim Hansen, Atlanta; and Christopher Hansen, Byron Center, Mich.; a granddaughter, Courtney Nicholas, Houston; a great-grandson, Tyler Hansen; various nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by four brothers and four sisters.
The funeral will be Monday with Mass at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of the Snows Church, 301 S. State St., Clarks Summit. Interment, Cathedral Cemetery, Scranton.
Friends may call Sunday, 3 to 6 p.m., at the Jennings-Calvey Funeral and Cremation Service Inc., 111 Colburn Ave., Clarks Summit.
