Florence A. Ryder

Florence A. Ryder of Dunmore died Sunday in Golden Living Center, Scranton. She was the widow of Robert T. Ryder, who died July 19.

Born in Scranton, daughter of the late Arthur J. and Florence McNulty Ferguson, she was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, educated in Dunmore public schools and a graduate of Dunmore High School and Lackawanna Junior College. Before retirement, she was employed by Fine and Wyatt Law Offices.

Florence was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother and sister who will be deeply missed.

Surviving are three sons, Thomas Ryder, Arlington, Va.; Robert Ryder, Rochester, N.Y.; and Michael Ryder, Olyphant; a daughter, Dr. Mary Grace Ryder, Philadelphia; five grandchildren Sarah, Clare, Christopher, Robert and Patrick; a sister, Lois O'Hara, Dunmore; nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Beth Ryder; a brother, Attorney Arthur J. Ferguson Jr.; and a sister, Janet Ferguson.

The funeral will be Thursday at 9 a.m. from the McGoff-Hughes Funeral Home Inc., 1401 Capouse Ave., Scranton, with Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Chestnut Street, Dunmore, to be celebrated by the Rev. Thomas J. O'Malley, her cousin. Interment, Mount Carmel Cemetery, Dunmore.

Friends may call Wednesday, 4 to 8 p.m.
