Florence J. Kania Pepsin, 86, of Chalfont, formerly of Taylor, died Thursday at Lehigh Valley Muhlenburg Hospital. She was the wife of Joseph Pepsin, who died Aug. 12, 2011.
Born in Scranton, daughter of the late Vincent and Katherine Bilski Kania, she was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Church where she was active at its fall festival bazaar for many years. Educated in Scranton public schools, she was a graduate of West Scranton High School. Before retirement, she was employed as a seamstress at Irene D in Taylor and was a member of the ILGWU.
Florence was the best mom anyone could ask for. She was a loving and devoted wife, sister and a wonderful grandmother who gave her love unconditionally to her family and, especially, to her four grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by all those who knew her. She was surrounded by her family at the time of her death.
Surviving are two loving daughters, JoAnn Seeger, Chalfont, with whom she lived for the past year; and Kathy Chickey, Grantville; four grandchildren, Kristen and Richard Seeger Jr., both of Chalfont; and Bryan and Tara Chickey, both of Harrisburg; a sister, Stephanie Babij, Somerset, N.J.; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was also preceded in death by three sisters and two brothers.
The funeral will be Tuesday at 11:30 a.m. from the Thomas J. Hughes Funeral Home Inc., 1240 St. Ann's St., Scranton, with a Mass of Christian Burial at noon in SS. Peter and Paul Church, West Locust Street, Scranton, to be celebrated by the Rev. Kenneth M. Seegar. Interment will be at the parish cemetery, Taylor.
