Frances Godek

Frances Godek, 94, formerly of West Scranton, died Monday morning at Mountain View Care Center. Her husband, George Godek, died in 1962.

Born in Syracuse, N.Y., daughter of the late Walter and Catherine Kaminski, she had been employed in the garment industry before retiring. She was a member of St. Stanislaus Polish National Catholic Cathedral, the Adoration of the Most Blessed Sacrament Society, ANS Catering Service, the Quilters, and was chairwoman of the Flower Fund for many years. She was also a member of the ILGWU.

The family would like to give special thanks to the staff of Mountain View for the exceptional care given to Frances.

Surviving are a son, Walter Godek and wife, Susan, Moscow; a daughter-in-law, Josephine Slavinski Godek, Massachusetts; a sister, Ceil Ostrowski, South Carolina; a brother, John Kaminski and wife, Mary, Dunmore; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by two sons, Thomas and Edmund Godek.

The funeral will be Friday at 9:30 a.m., from the Leon S. Gorgol Funeral Home, 1131 Pittston Ave., Scranton, with Mass at 10 in St. Stanislaus Polish National Catholic Cathedral. Interment, parish cemetery.

Friends and family may call Thursday, 4 to 7 p.m. Prayer services by ANS, Thursday, 4:30. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Stanislaus Renovation Fund, 529 E. Locust St., Scranton, PA 18505.
