Frances S. Rafalko

Frances S. Rafalko, 88, of Dunmore, died Thursday at home. Her husband, Peter J. Rafalko, died Aug. 1, 1987.

Born in Dunmore, daughter of the late Diego and Sarah Capizzi Cigna, she was a devout Catholic and member of SS. Anthony and Rocco Parish, Dunmore. She attended Dunmore public schools and was a tumble-fold operator for Linen Systems before retirement. She was the matriarch of the family. A selfless woman, she enjoyed serving others and making others happy, especially her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed cooking and baking and loved her cat, Macy. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her.

Surviving are daughters, Rita Fleming, Olyphant; and Delores Casey and husband, Frank, Endicott, N.Y.; sons, Martin Rafalko and companion, Darlene Greene, Dunmore; and Peter B. Rafalko and wife, Karen, Forty Fort; a sister, Josephine Wrona, Dunmore; and grandchildren; Martin T. Rafalko, Kimberly Rafalko-Johnson, Robert J. Golden, Rysczard Gornowicz, Jason Gornowicz, Lori Parks, Michael V. Parks, John M. Skeba, Elizabeth Chindemi; and Peter J. Rafalko, with whom she resided; great-grandchildren, Aaron, Thomas, Christian, Emily, Natalie and Sophia; sisters-in-law, Lucy and Mabel Cigna; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was also preceded in death by sisters, Carmella Giordano, Virginia Yantorn, Louise Kafchinski and an infant sister, Romaine; and brothers, Sam and John Cigna.

The funeral will be Monday from the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home Inc., 318 E. Drinker St., Dunmore, with Mass at 9:30 a.m. in St. Anthony's Church, Smith Street, Dunmore. Interment, Dunmore Cemetery.
