Francy Lou Mulka Murphy

Francy Lou Mulka Murphy, Taylor, died Tuesday at Moses Taylor Hospital. Her husband, Joseph, died on April 6, 2005.

Born in Taylor, daughter of the late Louis and Frances Zakrzewski Mulka, she was a graduate of Taylor High School, class of 1957, and the Mercidian School of Nursing. For many years she worked in the pediatrics unit of Scranton State Hospital. She was a member of St. Stanislaus Polish National Cathedral, had been a Girl Scout leader and was a volunteer for the American Red Cross.

Francy Lou enjoyed doll collecting, gardening, sewing and crafting and spending time at Lake Carey swimming and boating. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was very proud of them and all their accomplishments.

Survivng are three daughters, Jacalyn Wellicka and her husband, Bernie, of Moscow; Jill Torrisi and her husband, Dave, of Taylor; Joell May and her husband, Joe, of Old Forge; four sons, Jay and his wife, Lori, of Minooka; Chris and Wendy of Taylor; Jack and Diana of Tucson, Ariz.; and Shawn, with whom she resided; five grandchildren, Megan Murphy, Gretchen and Gabrielle Wellicka, David and Matthew Torrisi; three brothers, Jack and his wife, Katherine Mulka, of Bloomsburg; Louis Mulka of Elmhurst; and Ron and his wife, Cathy Mulka, of Waymart; nieces, nephews and cousins.

The funeral will be Friday at 8:45 a.m. from the Jacob Davis Funeral Home, 422 S. Main St.,Taylor, with Mass at 10 in St. Stanislaus Polish National Cathedral. Interment will be private for the family.

Visitation will be Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Association, 120 Wall St., New York, NY 10005.
