Frank T. Mancuso

Frank T. Mancuso, 89, of Carbondale, died Tuesday at Regional Hospital of Scranton. He was the husband of the former Angela A. Pettinato, who died Dec. 8, 2010.

Born April 18, 1925, in Carbondale, son of the late James and Jennie Parise Mancuso, he was a graduate of the Benjamin Franklin High School, Carbondale, and the University of Scranton. He was an Army veteran of World War II and took part in the D-Day invasion.

His very first business venture that he was proud of was the establishment of the Crystal Lake Riding Club. Before his retirement, he had been employed as a mechanical engineer for the Babcock and Wilcox Co. in Scranton. Since 1973, he and his wife were the owners of Pettinato's Restaurant in Carbondale, that was established by his wife's parents in 1922.

He was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Carbondale, and the Elkview Country Club, Crystal Lake. He was a lifetime member and past president of the Carbondale Chapter of UNICO.

He was also a former member of the Health Systems Agency in Wilkes-Barre, the Jaycees, the Carbondale Recreation Committee and was a third degree Knights of Columbus, Lynchburg, Va.

He was an accomplished pianist and great storyteller who enjoyed Sundays at the lake, cooking and especially horses. He was also a very passionate supporter of the American Red Cross blood drives.

His greatest joy was his family who will deeply miss him for his gift of humor and his guidance.

He is survived by three children, James Mancuso and wife, Doreen, Dundaff; Jacinta Koerper and husband, Edward (Ted), Huntingdon Valley; and Pierre Mancuso and wife, Jennifer, Dunmore; four grandchildren, Angela and Christina Koerper, and Nico and Chloe Mancuso; a sister, Rosella Tomaine, Carbondale; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Ann Marie Pettinato, Crystal Lake; Anthony Pettinato and wife, Hilda, Endicott, N.Y.; Marie Greto and husband, Anthony, Carbondale; and Jackie Pettinato and wife, Yvonne, Carbondale; several nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by two brothers-in-law, Dr. Salvatore R. Pettinato and Joseph Tomaine.

The funeral will be Saturday at 9 a.m. from the Carmine J. & Louis C. Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., Farview and 41st streets, Carbondale, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 15 Fallbrook St., Carbondale. Entombment, Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Finch Hill.

Friends may call Friday, 4 to 8 p.m.
