Gary G. Hodovanec, 55, of Peckville, formerly of Throop and Scranton, died Monday evening at home after being stricken ill. His wife is the former Theresa Merva.
Born in Scranton, son of Nan Stead Hodovanec, Peckville, and the late George Hodovanec, he was a graduate of Mid Valley High School and Johnson College, Scranton. He was employed as a welder for Bolus Trucking for the past two years, and attended Bradley Memorial Methodist Church, Scranton.
Also surviving are two daughters, Carrie and husband, Daniel Knott, Scott Twp.; and Jessica Sabato and husband, Mark, Olyphant; stepchildren, Selena, Bobbie and Joe Lorenzetti; and Alexa and husband, Clay Hancock; two grandchildren; a stepgrandson, Colton; a sister, Michele Davitt and husband, Stephen, Dickson City; aunts, nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by a sister, Sharon Savitsky; a brother, Vance; and an infant brother, Bruce.
A memorial celebration of life will be held today at 7 p.m. in the John F. Glinsky Funeral Home, 445 Sanderson St., Throop, by the Rev. Michael Shambora, pastor, Bradley Memorial Methodist Church, Scranton. Interment will be private.
