George Goosley

George Goosley, 85, of Bethlehem, passed away peacefully in his home on Saturday, July 6, 2013, surrounded by the love of his family. He was the husband of Mercedes (Gonzalez) Goosley, with whom he shared over 65 wonderful years of marriage.

Born in Taylor, Pa., he was the son of the late Stephen and Mary (Hrubenak) Goosley. George served in the U.S. Navy during WWII, and then worked for Bethlehem Steel Corp., retiring as an inspector in the Beam Yard after 44 years of service. He was a member of Lynns Athletic Association.

George was a wonderful father and provider for his children and grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, Mercedes, George is survived by his children, Ronald Goosley and his wife, Michele; Stephen Goosley and his wife, Naomi; Mercedes Mitzi Goosley; Joseph Goosley and his wife, Priscilla; William Goosley and Kristin Goosley; grandchildren, Phillip, Michael, Brandon, Rebecca, George, Anthony, Nicholas Ronald, Jennifer and Stephen; eight great-grandchildren.

George was predeceased by his sister, Margaret Nueber; his brothers, John, Joseph and Michael Goosley; and an infant son, George Goosley.

Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 11, in the Long Funeral Home, 500 Linden St., Bethlehem, 18018, where friends may call from 10 a.m. until time of services on Thursday.
