George P. Bushta Jr.

George P. Bushta Jr., 65, of Stroud Twp., died Friday morning at VNA Hospice House in East Stroudsburg. He was the husband of Christine M. Baumann Bushta, with whom he shared 14 years of marriage.

Born on July 9, 1947, in Blakely, he was the son of Mary Sparich Bushta and the late George P. Sr. of Jessup. George Jr. was an Eagle Scout and graduated from Jessup High School in 1965. He earned a master's degree from Bloomsburg University. George lived in Monroe County since 1970. He was a business law and accounting teacher at Stroudsburg High School for 28 years and was also a public accountant.

He is also survived by three children, Todd Bushta of Stroudsburg; James Bushta of Stroudsburg; and Kerri Cooke of Clarksville, Md.; eight grandchildren, Emily and Eric Bushta of Stroudsburg; Rachel, Samuel, Joshua and Sarah Kate Bushta of East Stroudsburg; Aja Rose and Sofia Cooke of Clarksville, and a sister, Theresa Chimel of Plano, Texas.

A memorial service will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church, 9 N. Ninth St., Stroudsburg, with the Rev. Gail H. Kees, officiating. Private cremation will take place at the H.G. Smith Crematory, Stroudsburg.

There will be a visitation Tuesday from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at the William H. Clark Funeral Home, 1003 Main St., Stroudsburg. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial remembrances be made to VNA Hospice of Monroe County, 502 VNA Road, East Stroudsburg, PA 18301.
