Gerald W. Bedford

Gerald W. Bedford, 68, of Susquehanna, died Monday at home after an illness. His loving wife of 41 years is Linda Towner Bedford.

Son of the late Sterling Sr. and Marion Slocum Bedford, Gerald was a member of the United Methodist Church of Susquehanna. A veteran of the Army, he retired in 2000 from the Preston 151 Line Trucking in Scranton.

Also surviving are two daughters, Holly Bedford; and Amy and Art Barnes; sister, Larene and Duane Barton; special aunt, Ella Mae and Joe Stone; granddaughter, his peanut Baily Madison Barnes, "Pop's Girl."

He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Connie Bedford Marx; brother, Sterling "Cappy" Bedford; and sister, Cindy Bedford.

A funeral service will be held Thursday at noon at the Hennessey's Funeral Home, 747 Jackson Ave., Susquehanna, with the Rev. Keith Albee officiating. Burial will be in Starrucca Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Thursday, 10 a.m. to noon. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice of the Sacred Heart, 207 Locust St., Montrose, PA 18801.
