Gladys M. Kizer, 53, of Scranton, died Tuesday at Geisinger Community Medical Center. She was the wife of Francis Kizer. The couple would have celebrated 24 years of marriage on Dec. 31.
Born in Syracuse, N.Y., daughter of the late Charles Monta and Gladys Graves, she was a former member of St. John the Evangelist Church and educated in Syracuse public schools. She had been employed by the Scranton State General Hospital and Scranton State Office Building. She had been a very active volunteer over the years. Her great joy was spending time with family.
Also surviving are a daughter, Tomika Doolittle, Avoca; a grandson, Mark Lee Dutter, Scranton; four granddaughters, Destiny, Jessie and Brittany Moore and Trinity Veaudry; six sisters, Mary Morten, Lorraine, N.Y.; Betty Schmidt, Syracuse; Charlotte Sobles, Syracuse; Fran Angerson, Dunmore; Dorothy Monta, Scranton; and Pearl Dyer, Hastings, N.Y.; two brothers, Charles Monta Jr., Syracuse; and William Graves, Rome, N.Y.; nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Kathleena Monta; and two grandsons, Richard and Brandon Moore.
The funeral will be Friday at 8 p.m. in the Thomas J. Hughes Funeral Home Inc., 1240 St. Ann's St., Scranton, with services by the Rev. Joseph Jones, C.P. Interment, Cathedral Cemetery.
