Grace H. Genovese

Grace H. Genovese, 95 years young, of Old Forge, passed away on Sunday at Moses Taylor Hospital. She was married to Victor Genovese who passed on November 14, 2001.

Born March 25, 1918, in Landing, N.J., Grazia was the daughter of the late Massimo and Concetta Yezzi Astolfi. She attended Dunmore schools and worked for Model Coat & Uniform in Dunmore. While raising her children, she was involved with the Young Mothers' Club at the YMCA, Scranton. Prior to retirement, she was employed at Vermont Sportswear, Taylor, and was a member of the International Ladies' Garment Workers' Union.

She loved spending time with her family; dinners, birthday parties, holidays and one-on-one time with her children and grandchildren. Another love of hers was cooking and collecting recipes from newspapers and magazines. She made everyone laugh and didn't mind telling them what was on her mind, especially when any one of her three daughters would try to alter one of her recipes, which would be unthinkable. She was Amazing Grace to her family.

Surviving are two sons, Richard Genovese and wife, Cathy, Old Forge; Anthony Genovese and wife, Mary Ann, Florida; three daughters, Carol Genovese, Pittsboro, N.C.; Nancy Renna, Scranton; Linda Pagnotti and husband, Vince, Old Forge; grandchildren, Kelly Messman, Matthew and Shara Stallo, Carla Romanchick, Ricky Genovese, Lindsey Pagnotti; great-grandchildren, Carlye and Toni Messman, Madeline Stallo and Kaleb Pagnotti; a sister, Gilda Nozzi, Dunmore; nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, Tony, Bill and David Astolfi; and three sisters, Edith Pamelia, Jean Bitcola and Lily Astolfi.

The family will celebrate Grace's life with a Memorial Mass on Saturday, November 9, at 11 a.m. at Divine Mercy Parish, 312 Davis Street, Scranton. A Special Thank You to everyone that was a part of Grace's life and may God grant that their mother hears the whisper of her family; "I love you, Mother" because "You are My Mother."

The funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Louis V. Ciuccio Funeral Home, 145 Moosic Road, Old Forge.
