Gregory E. Vineski, 46, a former resident of Eynon, died Monday. His fiancée is Valerie Hannon.
Born in Springfield, Mass., son of Martin and Virginia Kozlowski Vineski, Eynon, he attended St. Thomas Aquinas Parochial School and Bishop O'Hara High School, graduating in 1984. He was also a graduate of Luzerne County Community College. Greg was a parishioner of Christ the King Parish in Archbald, and a member of the Archbald Community Ambulance and the Eynon Fire Company. He was employed as a paramedic for several ambulance companies in Lackawanna County before securing a position as a corrections officer with the Federal Corrections System, having worked in Elkton, Ohio, Otisville, N.Y., and most recently at USP Canaan.
He was an Army
veteran, serving in Fort Bragg, N.C., Ft. Jackson, S.C., Seoul, South Korea and the DMZ, Korea. He was exceptionally fond of tigers and was a Pittsburgh Steelers fan. He enjoyed trucks, cars and riding motorcycles and ATVs with his uncle and cousins.
Also surviving are a sister, Melissa Chiricos and husband, Paul, Archbald; aunts, MaryAnn Chorba, Archbald; Lorraine Carite and husband, Joe, Eynon; cousins, Jerry Chorba, Joey Carite, Ed Kozlowski, Eddie Kozlowski Jr. and Amanda Chorba; nieces, Rachel and Nicole Chiricos, who was also his goddaughter; and other goddaughters, Mollee Chorba and Kristy Kozlowski; extended family: his fiancée's son, Daniel Hannon; Christine and James Halstead; and niece, Ashleigh Halstead.
He lived to spoil his nieces to no end, taking them to Knoebels, dinner, shopping and out for ice cream. He was very loyal and conscientious at his job. He loved and was dedicated to his family and friends.
Friends may call Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Louis J. Rapoch Funeral Home, 420 Church St., Archbald.
The funeral and interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
