Harold J. Hartt of Susquehanna died Saturday at Forest City Nursing Home. He was the husband of Janet Page Hartt for 63 years.
Born in Susquehanna in March 1925, he was the son of the late Bert C. and Amity Hartt. He was a member of North Jackson Methodist Church. Before retirement, he was a former partner of Page's Dairy and owner of Hartt Dairy. He was also a cattle dealer and former member of national, state and county Holstein associations. Active in civic associations, he was a former president of Stonebridge Lions Club, a member of Masonic Freedom Lodge 328, vice president of the Susquehanna County Republican Party and a former member of the C Club. Harold was also a people-to-people United States agricultural representative to Australia and China. A World War II
Navy veteran, he landed at Normandy.
He was an avid fisherman and will be missed by his fishing buddies. He passed away surrounded by family.
Also surviving are a son, Jerome P. Hartt and wife, Karen; a granddaughter, Victoria P. Hartt; a brother, Paul Hartt and wife, Mary, Virginia; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was also predeceased by a brother, Robert Hartt; and sister-in-law, Nancy.
The funeral will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at North Jackson United Methodist Church. Burial at Lakeview Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Tuttle-Yeisley Funeral Home Inc., 25 Susquehanna Ave., Hallstead, on Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. A Masonic service will be at 8.
