Helen Esther Thomas Lewis

Helen Esther Thomas Lewis, Clarks Summit, died Thursday morning at home surrounded by her family. She was the widow of Cyril E. Lewis who died in 1965.

Born in Baltimore, Md., she was the daughter of the late Weldon and Esther Howells Thomas. A graduate of Scranton Central High School, she attended Keystone College. She was a member of the Chinchilla United Methodist Church, where she was the treasurer of their Crusader's Class until 2012.

She was an avid reader, enjoyed spending time with her family; most especially hosting family gatherings.

Surviving are four daughters, Gale Lewis Griffiths, Clarks Summit; Sharon Lewis Daiello and her husband, Coz, Downingtown; Cynde Lewis Dodge and her husband, Richard, Nicholson; and Marile Lewis Davis and her husband, Jace, Clarks Summit; five grandchildren, Timothy Griffiths, Mark Griffiths and wife, Cassie; Nicole Bobbert and husband, Thornton; Jamie Davis and Brittany Davis and fiance, EJ Kugler; two great-grandchildren, Liam and Alexis Bobbert.

She was also preceded in death by her two brothers, Calvin C. and Thomas W. Thomas.

A private funeral will be held at the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Clarks Summit with services by the Rev. Tony Schwartz, pastor of the Chinchilla United Methodist Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Hospice of the Sacred Heart, 600 Baltimore Drive, Wilkes-Barre, PA 18702.
