Helen Lukasiewicz Stankevich

Helen Lukasiewicz Stankevich, West Scranton, died Tuesday in the Riverside Rehabilitation Center, Taylor. Her husband of 49 years, Charles A. Stankevich Sr., died Oct. 7, 1994.

Born and educated in Taylor, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Domicella Supel Lukasiewicz. Before retirement, she was employed in the local garment industry, working for Providence Pants and Mallard Sportswear. She was a member of St. Patrick's Church, West Scranton.

She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister who enjoyed spending time with her family. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her.

Helen's family would like to express its sincere gratitude and appreciation to the staff and management of the Riverside Rehabilitation Center, especially Toni Olanavich, for the care and compassion given to their mom.

Surviving are a daughter, Mary Ann, Scranton; a son, Charles Jr. and wife, Elaine, Scranton; three grandchildren, Susan Stempien and husband, Kevin; Sabrina Gatto and husband, Jeff; and Stephanie Stankevich; a great granddaughter, Madison Havirlak; nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by infant children, Susan and Michael; five sisters, Josephine Krypel, Stella Szot, Elizabeth Urbanski, Julieanne Serafin and Frances Legg; and two brothers, John and Frank.

The funeral will be Saturday from the Carl J. Savino Funeral Home, 157 S. Main Ave., Scranton, with Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in St. Patrick's Church, Jackson Street, Scranton. Interment, Fairview Memorial Park Cemetery, Elmhurst.

Friends may call Friday, 5 to 8 p.m.
