Helen P. Marcinkevich, 71, of Gouldsboro, died Friday at Geisinger Community Medical Center in Scranton following a lengthy illness. She was the wife and life partner of Peter P. Marcinkevich.
Born March 7, 1943, in Lakeville, daughter of the late William and Gladys (Cox) Loveless, she was employed as a cook in several area restaurants, before her retirement,
Helen was an avid gardener, and enjoyed crafting very much. She was a talented wood burner and is remembered for sending a "Princess Diana" rendering to Prince William on the occasion of his wedding. It was received by the prince with an official thank you from Buckingham Palace. Helen enjoyed camping, and was an official greeter at Promised Land State Park for 13 years. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
Surviving are eight children, Richard C. Smoke, Gouldsboro; Sherry L. Edwards, Gouldsboro; Barbara J. Mills, Dunmore; Donna M. Mills, Peckville; David W. Smoke, Honesdale; Tina L. and Kenneth L. Smoke, both of Scranton; and Karen L. Cortese, Avoca; several grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the Howard J. Snowdon Funeral Home, 1810 Sanderson Ave., Scranton, with the Rev. Arthur W. Davis officiating.
