Helen V. Cook, 92, of Wolcott, Conn., died Friday at Wolcott View Manor, Wolcott. She was the widow of George Cook Jr., who died in 2005.
Born in Simpson on Sept. 10, 1920, she was the daughter of the late William and Marion Kloptosky Valinski. She had been a resident of Wolcott since 1956 and attended St. Maria Goretti Church.
Of the many jobs she held during her life, being a devoted mother to her children topped the list. Helen enjoyed cooking, gardening, sewing and especially shopping.
She is survived by a daughter, Glenda M. Cook, Wolcott; a son, Gary G. Cook, Terryville, Conn.; a sister, Stella Fox, Carbondale; two sisters-in-law, Veronica Valinski, Simpson; and Anastasia Timpko, Waterbury, Conn.; nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by two brothers, John and Raymond Valinski; and a sister, Beatrice Costolnick.
The funeral will be Tuesday from the Joseph W Scotchlas Funeral Home Inc., 621 Main St., Simpson, with Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in St. Rose of Lima Church, Church Street, Carbondale. Interment in Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Finch Hill.
