Hilda Marie Patelunas of Dickson City, formerly of Scranton, died Thursday at home. She was the widow of Martin C. Patelunas, who died Aug. 8, 2008.
Born in Scranton, daughter of the late Francis and Anna Grudis Narish, she attended St. Joseph's School, and was an honor graduate of Scranton Central High School, ranking third in her graduating class. Before the start of her family, she was employed at the Globe Store of Scranton. She was a member of Mary, Mother of God Parish, and had been a longtime member of St. Joseph's Church and its Sodality. She also sang in the choir for many years.
She enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing with her late husband. Her family was the most important thing in her life. She was loved, and will be missed by all who knew her.
Surviving are a daughter, Christine Griffin and husband, Gary, Archbald; three granddaughters, Michelle Burian and husband, Andrew; Stephanie Griffin and Kristin Petalunas; two great-granddaughters, Emma and Sophie Burian.
She was also preceded in death by a son, Gerard M. Petalunas; and a sister, Frances Narish.
The funeral will be Tuesday from the Solfanelli-Fiorillo Funeral Home Inc., 1030 N. Main Ave., Scranton, with Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in Mary, Mother of God Parish at Holy Rosary Church, 316 William St., Scranton. Interment will follow at St. Catherine's Cemetery, Moscow.
