Irene D. Minella

Irene D. Minella, 84, a resident of the Riverside Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Taylor and formerly of Old Forge, died March 21 after a lengthy illness.

Born Sept. 29, 1928, in Scranton, daughter of the late Adolph and Stella Sack, she was a graduate of Scranton Technical High School, and was a lifelong member of Immanuel Lutheran Church of Scranton.

Surviving are two sons, Paul A. Minella and wife, Cheryl, Chalfont; and John P. Minella and wife, Annette, Vienna, Va.; two brothers, Walter Sack and wife, Rita of Scranton; and Irving Sack of California; a sister, Bertha Bell of New Jersey; four grandchildren, Payton, Owen, Anthony and Jordan; and her former husband, John J. Minella.

She was also preceded in death by her son, Mark D. Minella, on June 8, 2011.

Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 11 a.m. in Immanuel Lutheran Church, 238 Reese St., Scranton, with the Rev. Anthony B. Mandile III, pastor, as officiating clergy. Interment, Evergreen Cemetery, Bell Mountain, Dickson City.
