Irene Gruczkowski, 85, of Saint Clairsville, Ohio, formerly of Corning N.Y., passed away on Feb. 27, 2014, at Forrest Hill Nursing Home.
Born in Scranton, Pa., on Jan. 25, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Stanley and Stella Witkowski. She graduated from West Side High School in 1946. She married Edward Gruczkowski in 1950, and raised seven children.
Irene is survived by her brother, Stanley Witkowski, Maple Heights, Ohio; daughter, Linda (Steve) Dean, Lake Hartwell, Ga.; son, Richard (Kathryn) Gruczkowski, Lilburn, Ga.; son, Gary (Traci) Gruczkowski, Cumming, Ga.; daughter, Gail (John) Welty, Wheeling, W.Va.; daughter, Karen (Kevin) Lutomski, Asheville, N.C.; daughter, Leah (Tom) Holland, Nashville; grandchildren, Megan and Stephanie Dean, Erik and Mark Sampsell, Debra Hartman, Alexis, Zack and Ariel Gruczkowski, Kailey and Sydney Pajerski and Grace Holland; great-grandchildren, Erin, Allison, Katlyn and Emily Sampsell and Sarah and Matthew Hartman.
Irene was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Gruczkowski; and son, Eugene Gruczkowski.
Visitation will be Thursday, March 6, 2014, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Haughey Funeral Home Inc., 216 E. First St., Corning. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary's Church on Friday, March 7, 2014, at 10 a.m. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.
