James J. "Jimmy" LaRose, 78, of Scranton, was taken to be with our Lord Monday evening, April 21, 2014. He is survived by his wife, companion and best friend, Candice Evans.
Born October 2, 1935, in Newton, Pa., he is the son of the late Archie and Myrtle (Williams) LaRose. He graduated from Scranton Technical High School in 1953, and served in the U.S. Navy
from 1954 to 1957. Prior to his retirement in 1988, Jimmy was employed by Tobyhanna Army Depot as a Communications Equipment Operations Supervisor.
Jimmy enjoyed living life to the fullest and had an amazing capacity to connect with people. He enjoyed his neighbors and spent countless hours "porch hopping." He also enjoyed gardening, crossword puzzles and telling jokes. He was an avid New York Yankees fan and had a great knowledge of sports stories and trivia. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
Surviving in addition to his wife are three sons, Alan LaRose and wife, Shawn of Seaford, Del.; James J. LaRose Jr. and wife, Dina of Tempe, Ariz.; and Raymond R. LaRose of Minooka, Pa.; stepson, William Bonacci of Scranton, Pa.; and daughter, Donna Jefferys and husband, Edward of Old Forge; stepdaughter, Maria Deibert and husband, Mark; two sisters, Carolyn LaRose of Scranton; and Ellen Mae LaRose of Newton Twp.; and two grandchildren, Sarah and Sidney.
A Service of Remembrance will be conducted today April 23, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. in the Howard J. Snowdon Funeral Home, 1810 Sanderson Avenue, Scranton, Pa., with Rev. Ginger Daubenhauser as officiating clergy. Calling will continue for friends and family after the service until 3:00 p.m.
