James Joseph Gulbin

James Joseph Gulbin, of Union Dale, passed away on Sunday after a long battle with illness. His wife is the former Miss Marie Avaschieri. The couple would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on October 3.

Born in Forest City, son of the late William and Helen Kandrot Gulbin, he was a member of St. Katharine Drexel Parish, Pleasant Mount. Jim was a 1957 graduate of Forest City Regional High School. After high school, he joined the United States Air Force, where he was a military policeman for four years. When Jim left the Air Force, he went to school for two years and received a certificate as a maintenance mechanic. He then worked at General Analine in Elizabeth, New Jersey. Eventually, Jim and his family returned to Union Dale and he worked as a Psychiatric Security Aide (PSAII) at Farview State Hospital, Waymart. Jim retired after 28 years of service.

Also surviving are four children, Maria Suhadolnik, Clifford; Mark Gulbin, Union Dale; Jimmy Gulbin, Montrose; Donna Murphy, Ararat; a brother, William, Union Dale; two sisters, Dianne Tubaugh, Greensboro, N.C.; and Irene Wormuth, Richmondale; nine grandchildren, Michael, Rachel, Devon, Benjamin, Masen, Robert, James, Brett, Joey and Isabella.

The funeral will be Saturday with a blessing service at 10 a.m. in the Jones & Brennan Funeral Home, 430 Main Street, Forest City, to be celebrated by Rev. Patrick Albert. Interment, Saint Anthony's Cemetery, Forest City.

Friends may call Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. A memorial Mass will be celebrated at a later date.
