James S. Kull, 45, of Kingston and formerly of Carbondale, died Saturday evening at the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Plains Twp., following a courageous battle with cancer.

He played high school football and baseball, and was an avid sports fan, especially of the Pittsburgh Steelers. He was a member of Mid Valley Baseball Umpires Chapter and Scranton Chapter of Football Officials. He was a proud Democrat, helping in the Hillary Clinton campaign and raising money for veterans. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and most of all spending time with his daughter.

He was also preceded in death by a brother, Frank Kull.

I took care of Mr. Kull a few times early on before his disease progressed. He was a gentlemen and very respectful. I was very saddened to learn of his passing . He suffered terribly and now he is in a place where he can be free from any pain he endured here on earth. God bless him .

Jimmy is also survived by a grandmother, aunts and uncles, cousins (great-cousins, too!), who all love and will miss him dearly. If you're on fbook, check out some amazing family pics. Jimmy was a true hero, courageous and brave, never the one wanting to be the first to receive help while in the hospital, always trying to do for himself, until he couldn't. I'm thankful for my last few weeks with him. The gifts he gave me during that time will stay with me forever.
