James V. Sheehan of Dunmore passed away peacefully Saturday, surrounded by his family at the Mountain View Care Center, Scranton.
Born in Dunmore, he was the son of the late Vincent and Catherine Coolican Sheehan. A graduate of Dunmore High School, he served in the U.S. Navy
, and retired from the Dunmore School District.
He is survived by "the love of his life," Gert Novorosky; godson, Bryan Dente; four brothers, Jack, Richard, Robert and Thomas Sheehan and wife, Rhonda; two sisters, Catherine Billick and Marilyn Millan; and several nieces and nephews, including Tim Sheehan and Jackie Dente, whom he was a second father to.
Jim devoted his life caring for his mom. He was a very kind, loving and faithful brother, uncle, godfather and friend. Jim lived by his words: patience, persistence and prayer. A very devoted Catholic, Jim was often seen attending the Monday Novenas at St. Ann's. He loved life!
The family would like to thank the Mountain View Nursing Staff for their compassion and patience, while caring for Jim.
The funeral will be Thursday from the Albert P. O'Donnell Funeral Home, 2025 Green Ridge St., Dunmore, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. at St. Mary of Mount Carmel Church, 322 Chestnut St., Dunmore. Interment, St. Mary's Parish Cemetery.
Friends may call Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m.
