Janice Anne Frey

Janice Anne Frey, 65, of Scranton, died Wednesday in Hospice Community Care, Dunmore, after a lengthy illness. She was the widow of Edwin Frey, who died Nov. 13, 2004 .

Born in Manchester, N.H., on New Years Eve 1946, daughter of the late Jack and Marcella McCarthy Healey, Janice graduated from St. Patrick's High School, class of 1964. She attended Pennsylvania State University. As a Realtor with Century 21 Jack Ruddy in Dunmore, she was a member of National Realtors Association, Pennsylvania Realtors Association, and the Greater Scranton Board of Realtors, where she was active on many committees, and as a businessperson, she ran the office of the family business Frey Pipe Organs.

In March of 1969 she and Ed married and together raised seven children in Scranton's Green Ridge section. The bond the couple shared through their 35 years of marriage they shared in the end as her passing came roughly 24 hours after the eighth anniversary of his death.

She is survived by sons and daughters, Carrie Frey, Scranton; Erika Frey of Dunmore; Russ Frey and wife, Ann, of Paterson, N.J.; Stacey Kosich and husband, John, of Shaker Heights, Ohio; Justin Frey, Boston, Mass.; and Elizabeth Stefanski and husband, George, Dunmore; 10 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a brother, Richard Healey and wife, Judy, Scranton; three sisters, Jean Wedlock and husband, Bill, Scranton; Lori Pieszala, Exeter; and Nancy Johnson and husband, Chris, Long Island, N.Y.; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

The funeral will be Saturday at 9:30 a.m. from the McGoff-Hughes Funeral Home Inc., 1401 Capouse Ave., Scranton, with Mass of Christian Burial at 10 in Our Lady of Snows Church, Clarks Summit, to be celebrated by the Rev. John M. Lapera. Interment, Cathedral Cemetery, Scranton
