Janie Lamberton Obituary

Janie Cherry Lamberton, 59, of the Hideout, died very unexpectedly Sunday at home. Her husband of 21 years is Thomas Lamberton.

Born in Peckville, daughter of Lillian Caparelli Cherry of Jessup and the late Francis Cherry, she was a graduate of Jessup High School and received a paralegal degree from Penn State University. She also attended Keystone College. She was employed for the past 10 years as senior prelitigation paralegal for Munley Law and recently was promoted to the position of Paralegal manager overseeing the workflow for all paralegals at the firm. She was the guiding force behind the firms ATLAS Law Firm Marketing and Management Conferences, which attracted attorneys from all over the United States. It was Janie that selected the location, hotel and menu for the conference. She resided at the Hideout for more than 30 years and was a former member of St. Mary's Assumption Church, Jessup, now known as Queen of Angels Parish.

Her first love was rescuing pups and dogs from animal shelters. She loved all animals especially her dogs, Jolie, Libby, Jessie, Lukie and Jakey. In her own words, "It came to me that every time I lose a dog they take a piece of my heart with them. And every new dog that comes into my life gifts me with a piece of their heart. If I live long enough, all the components of my heart will be dog, and I will become as generous and loving as they are."

Also surviving are a brother, Robert Cherry, Jessup; a niece, Lauren Cherry; stepchildren, Amy Derrick and husband, Andrew, Hamlin; and Lindsey Steadman and husband, David, Virginia; grandchildren, Aidan and Avery; and an aunt, Frieda Pacini, Bridgeport, Conn.

A blessing service will be held Saturday at 4 p.m. from the Louis M. Margotta Funeral Home, 511 Church St., Jessup. Interment will be held at a later date.

Friends may call Saturday from 4 to 7 p.m. For online condolences, go to www.margottafuneralhomes,com. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Maple Hill Farm Toy Breed Rescue, Attn: Dawn Porter, 17582 Mishey Road, Butler, OH 44822.

Tom, I'm so sorry to hear this has happened. Janie was taken away from us too soon. Janie was full of life and laughter, so generous, caring and down-to-earth. She was beautiful on the inside and out.

I will always be grateful because I know she loved Lauren as her own. Many hearts are shattered and she will be missed by so many.

We will hold the memories of Janie close to our hearts and she will never be forgotten.

Words cannot express how saddened we are by Janie's passing. She was a wonderful friend and will be greatly missed. One of the few people I've met who loves their animals as much as my family does. My pup Carson will miss his Aunt Janie.

Tom. So very very sorry for your loss. I became friends with Janie at MDWCG and shared many happy times. The golf party wherein myself and my late husband Bruce and you two made quite a team and many laughs. She is greatly missed and I pray for you to have strength.

Janie frequented the restaurant I work at, and we had grown quite close in the two years I knew her. This shocks and saddens me to know I won't see her and her shining smile walk through the door again. Janie, you will be so missed. Keep an eye on us, and rest in peace.

My sincerest condolences to Janie's family and loved ones. She was a wonderful caring person who put her heart and soul into caring for her family and friends. She was one of best paralegals I have ever met. Janie excelled in everything she did and had a wealth of knowledge. She is irreplaceable and is missed terribly. She will never be forgotten. May she rest in peace.

I really don't know where to begin. Janie was the sister that any brother can only wish for. Her love for family and animals was more than you can imagine. I do realize now why Janie was taken from us so soon. I believe God needed Janie in heaven to take care of all the animals. I can't thank Janie and Tom enough for always being there for me and my daughter Lauren. There love for Lauren I can't begin to explain in words. My prayers are with you always. I love and miss you so much, Bobby.
