Jeanette Mittelman, Delray Beach, Fla., formerly of Scranton, died Wednesday night in the Hospice of Palm Beach County in Florida. She was preceded in death by her husband, Maurice "Hyder" Mittelman, who died in 1978.
Born in Scranton, daughter of the late Morris and Caroline Hart Myers, she was a member of Beth Shalom Congregation in Scranton and a life member of its sisterhood, in addition to being a life member of Anshei Emuna Congregation in Florida and its sisterhood. Throughout her life she was active in numerous religious and civic organizations, becoming a life member of Hadassah and AMIT, and also serving as a member of the Jewish Home Auxiliary.
Surviving are sons, Barry, Delray Beach, Fla.; and Neil and wife, Susan, Huntingdon Valley; grandchildren, Michael and wife, Jennifer; and Matthew and wife, Ayelet; and great-grandchildren, Talia, Evan and Ariela.
She was also preceded in death by brothers, Jerome "Jerry" and Isadore "Ozzie" Myers; and sisters, Sylvia Kornfeld, Ruth M. Herman and Henrietta Harowitz.
Graveside services will be held Sunday at 11:30 a.m. in the Dalton Jewish Cemetery by Rabbi Yisroel Brotsky, Rabbi Dovid Saks and Rabbi Jack Engel. There will be no local shiva.
