Jerome J. McAllister

Jerome J. "Jerry" McAllister of Dunmore died Thursday at the Regional Hospital of Scranton. He is survived by his wife, the former Rosemary McCrone, and they were married for 54 years.

Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late John E. and Anna Fahey McAllister and was a graduate of Dunmore High School and attended Lackawanna College. He was a veteran of the Navy commissioned on the USS John A. Bole-DD755. Before his retirement, he was the Chief Executive Officer of the Tobyhanna Army Depot Credit Union. He was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Dunmore.

Also surviving are four sons, Dr. Joseph McAllister and Jennifer of Horsham; Jack McAllister and Angie of Wayne; Mark McAllister and Megan of Clarks Summit; and J. R. McAllister and Elizabeth of Nashville, Tenn.; 12 grandchildren, Mary Kate, Molly, Grace, Joseph, Griffin, John, Hugh, Timothy, Kate, Maggie, Miller and Jerome James III; sister, Ellen McDonough and husband, John, Dunmore; sister-in-law, Mary "Babe"; sister-in-law, Alyce Burke and Attorney Henry Burke; several nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by Edward, William, Joan McAllister and Nancy Sohns.

The funeral will be Monday from the Albert P. O'Donnell Funeral Home, 2025 Green Ridge St., Dunmore, with Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at St. Mary of Mount Carmel Church, 322 Chestnut St., Dunmore. Interment, Dunmore Cemetery. Friends may call Sunday from 2 to 6 p.m. All those attending the funeral are asked to go directly to the church the morning of the funeral.
