Joan A. Williams

Joan A. Williams, Scranton, died Wednesday evening in the Hospice Unit at Regional Hospital. She was the widow of Joseph Williams, who died Dec. 25, 1980.

Born in Scranton, daughter of the late Matthew and Dolores Cullen MacPherson, she was a graduate of Scranton Technical High School and a beloved homemaker. She was a member of Holy Rosary Church.

She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, who was an avid New York Yankees fan.

Surviving are four daughters, Debbie Donofrio and husband, Vincent, Cedar Knolls, N.J.; Kathleen Angerson and husband, Daniel, Dunmore; Kim Williams, with whom she resided; and Christina Evans, Scranton; a son, Joseph Williams and wife, Kathy, Dickson City; 15 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by a brother, James P. MacPherson; a son-in-law, John "Geveo" Evans; and a granddaughter, Colleen.

The funeral will be Monday from the Edward Knight O'Donnell Funeral Home, 323 William St., with Mass at 9:30 a.m. at Mary Mother of God Parish at Holy Rosary Church. Friends attending the funeral are asked to go directly to the church. Interment, Cathedral Cemetery. Arrangements are by the Knight O'Donnell Funeral Home.

A viewing is scheduled for Sunday from 5 to 8 p.m.
