Jack F. Doyle, 94, of the Green Ridge section of Scranton, died Saturday evening at home with his family. He was the widower of Joan M. Reed. The couple had been married for 54 years.
Born in Carbondale, son of the late Frank and Elizabeth Kerrigan Doyle, he was a member of St. Paul's Church. He was educated in Carbondale public schools and was a graduate of Carbondale High School and the University of Scranton. An Army
veteran, he served in World War II
with the 371st Fighter Group. In 1950, Jack left the area to work for Westinghouse Electric International Corp. in New York City, where he worked as a cost accountant for 32 years in the nuclear power division. He returned to the Scranton area upon retirement.
He remained active, working at part time jobs, tending to his garden and spending time with his family. He was a loving and devoted father and grandfather. He will be greatly missed for his quick wit and kind heart.
Surviving are his daughters, Joni Doyle, and granddaughters, Molly and Emily Bryant, with whom he resided; Mary Kay King and husband, Frank, New York City; and Susan Rector and husband, John, Corning, N.Y.; sons, Hugh Doyle and wife, Charlene, Greenfield Twp.; and Frank Doyle and wife, Roseanne, Scranton; grandchildren, Madeleine King, Olivia, Natalie and Meredith Rector; Hugh and Joshua Doyle; Colin, Justin, Emma and Niam Doyle; and a sister, Lourdes Walsh, Morristown, N.J.
He was also preceded in death by a son, John Doyle.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. in St. Paul's Church, 1510 Penn Ave., Scranotn.
