John Michael Tighe

John Michael (Mike) Tighe, Lake Ariel, died Thursday at home after a battle with cancer.

He was born in Scranton and was the son of the Geraldine Hudak Kovaleski of Lake Ariel and the late Donald Kovaleski. He was a graduate of the Western Wayne High School and was a member of Bidwell Hill United Methodist Church. He had been employed by Grassi Enterprises as a laborer and was a member of Laborers Union Local 130. He was a United States Navy veteran.

He was a kind-hearted person who would do anything for anyone. He loved his son more than life. He was a loving son and brother.

Also surviving are a son, John M. Tighe of Scranton; sisters, Margaret Ann Tighe of Old Forge; Maureen Venizelos and her husband, George of Hamlin; Lisa Dobitsch and her husband, Chris of Sterling; and Geri Fuggetta and her husband, Louie of Lakeville; a brother, Joseph and his fiancée, Roberta Sartor of Lake Ariel; a lifelong best friend and former wife, Theresa Tighe.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 12:00 p.m. in the James Wilson Funeral Home, 143 Gravity Road, Lake Ariel, officiated by the Rev. Pat Lee.
