John S. Malinowski

John S. Malinowski, 80, of Edison, N.J., died Wednesday at the N.J. Veterans Memorial Home.

Born in Dickson City, Pa., he was the son of the late Carl and Mary (Mientek) Malinowski. John went to Dickson City High School and the joined the U.S. Army, where he served and was honorably discharged as a Corporal in the Military Police during the Korean War.

John worked for American Can Co. in Jersey City, N.J., and as a vendor in New York City. John enjoyed going to baseball games, Atlantic City and playing bingo.

For the past 10 years, John lived at the N.J. VA Memorial Home, where he enjoyed the friendship of many comrades and friends and where he was elected vice president and president by his veteran peers. We would like to extend a special than you to Karla, Fred, Natalia, Rev. Joe and all the staff from Caring Hospice Service. We would like to thank all the staff of the Freedom Wing at the home for the never-ending care and support. And to Dr. Estrellias, a very Special Thank You for everything he has ever done over the years (and you know what we mean).

He was predeceased by three children, Billy, Maryanne and Eleanor; sisters, Ceil Goldyn and Jean Besho; and brother, Ted Malinouski.

Surviving are his ex-wife, Rena; his children, Barbara Morse and husband, Gary Joffree; Richard, Robert, Stephen; Patti Frew and husband, Kevin Frew; and Linda Malinowski; 20 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; one brother, Alfred Malinowski of Dickson City, Pa; two sisters, Irene Ochal and Marian Shefchick of Peckville, Pa.; and many nieces and nephews. A special thank you to Chrissy Cryan, who was his caregiver for the past few years.

Friends may join a memorial Mass held at St. Mary's Church, Dickson City, Pa., on Thursday, February 14, 2013, at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be private in Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
