Joseph Dziedzic

Joseph Dziedzic, 97, a resident of Kirkwood, Pa., passed away on January 11, 2014. Joe was born on July 24, 1916, in Throop, Pa., where he lived most of his life. He was the son of Antoinette and Stanley Dziedzic.

A barber by trade, Joe operated a business in Olyphant for many years before retiring. Joe enjoyed a simple and genuine lifestyle throughout his life. He was an avid outdoorsman who took great pleasure in enjoying nature, particularly long walks in the mountains of northeastern Pa. He put nothing ahead of his commitment to his grandchildren, and shared with them his love of nature and knowledge of the mountains. He also became a dedicated fan of Mid Valley High School sports, where his dedication and endearment earned him the title of Mid Valley's No. 1 Fan, an honor that touched him deeply.

Joe is survived by his son, Joseph Dziedzic and daughter-in-law, Mary Dziedzic, of Kirkwood, Pa.; as well as granddaughters, Krista Dziedzic of Oxford, Pa.; and Sarah Dziedzic of Brooklyn, N.Y.; and great-granddaughter, Rachel Dziedzic, a student at Kutztown University. In addition, Joe is survived by his brother, Walter Dziedzic of Olyphant, Pa.; sister, Helen Walker of Weatherly, Pa.; and a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in passing by several brothers and sisters; as well as his wife, Rayno.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. A private memorial for family will be held at a later date.
