Joseph Louis Pennella

Joseph Louis Pennella, 74, of Boonsboro, Md., passed away on Monday, September 9, 2013, at his home.

Born December 20, 1938, in Scranton, Pa., to the late Angelo and Esther Falgione Pennella, he was a 1956 graduate of Old Forge High School, Old Forge, Pa. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marines.

After his military service he was employed by the Federal Government with two agencies, Library of Congress and Health Education & Welfare, in Washington, D.C. until his retirement. He was a Catholic.

His granddaughters were his pride and joy.

He was a member of Clopper Michael Post 10 American Legion Boonsboro, Md.

He enjoyed horse racing and was a racehorse owner and breeder. He was a member of HBPA Charlestown Racetrack.

Survivors include his wife, Rhea M. Wenk Pennella of Berkeley Springs, W.Va.; daughter, Jocelyn L. Pennella Doyle and her husband, Jeffrey of Boonsboro, Md.; son, Joseph L. Pennella, White Plains, Md.; son, Jason L. Pennella and his wife, Kathy of Connecticut; son, Justin L. Pennella and his wife, Kara of Ohio; sister, Anita Kolesar of Old Forge, Pa.; granddaughters, Jenna L. Pennella and Jillian A. Doyle.

Services and burial will be private.
