Joseph Peter Gillott, 72, of Mayfield, died Wednesday night at Regional Hospital of Scranton. He was the husband of the former Sandy Mosley. They were married on May 4, 1968.
Born April 4, 1940, in Carbondale, he was the son of the late Patrick and Mary Talarico Gillott. Before his retirement, he had been a self-employed general contractor, having owned and operated Gillott Construction and G&G Kitchens. He was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Carbondale.
He was an avid hunter, fisherman and Yankees fan.
He is survived by two sons, Joseph Patrick Gillott and wife, Kimberly, of Forest City; and Michael Gillott and fiancée, Amy, of Mayfield; one daughter, Melissa Gillott-Egyed and husband, Scott, of Schwenksville; one brother, Patrick "P.J." Gillott Jr. and wife, Helen Marie, of Jessup; one sister, Sarah Gillott of Carbondale; one grandson, Ethan Gillott; one nephew, Patrick "P.J." Gillott III of Peckville; one great-niece, Gabriella Gillott; and numerous cousins.
The funeral will be held Monday at 9 a.m. from the Carmine J. & Louis C. Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., Farview and 41st streets, Carbondale, with Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 15 Fallbrook St., Carbondale. Entombment, St. Tikhon's Monastery, South Canaan.
