Joseph Rudy Hartmann

Joseph Rudy Hartmann, 82, a longtime resident of Scranton, died late Friday at home after an illness. He and his wife, the former Ruth M. Houck, celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary on Aug. 21.

Born in New York City, son of the late Frank J. and Bertha Andres Hartmann, he had been employed as a security guard before retirement.

He enjoyed gardening, automobiles and fishing, and especially enjoyed fishing with his mother before her passing. He loved spending time with his family and his dog, Tiny.

The family would like to thank the staff of Traditional Home Health and Hospice and the staff at Mountain View Care Center for the wonderful, kind and compassionate care they gave to Joseph and his family.

Also surviving are two daughters, Ruth Ann Hartmann, Scranton; and Katie Enkulenko, Gouldsboro; nine grandchildren, Kathleen Speck, Scott Bauer, Brian Bauer, Eric Bauer, Ashley Hartmann, Hannelore Hartmann, Brenda Antidormi, Amanda Enkulenko and Nichole Enkulenko; six great-grandchildren; two brothers, Vincent Hartmann, Seale, Ala.; and Richard C. Hartmann, Melbourne Beach, Fla.; nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by a brother, Frank R. Hartmann.

There will be a blessing service Friday at 10 a.m. in the Miller Bean Funeral Home Inc., 436 Cedar Ave., Scranton. Interment will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
