Josephine Brunori, 93, a resident of Abington Manor Skilled Care Nursing Home since June 2011, died Monday, Oct. 8, 2012.
She was born and resided in Jessup for most of her life. Later, she was a resident of Clarks Summit and Allied Services Assisted Living. She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Carlo P. Brunori, who died in September of 1999. She was the daughter of the late Domenico and Ottavia Rossi Agostini. She attended Jessup schools and was a member of St. Mary's Assumption Church in Jessup, and later Our Lady of the Snows in Clarks Summit. Before retirement, she was employed in the local garment industry and was a member of the I.L.G.W.U.
Josephine, who was affectionately known as "Pina" was a beloved and loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a spiritual and prayerful woman who was also devoted to her sisters and in-laws, nephews, and nieces. Her last remaining in-law, Lillian Brunori Rizzo, preceded her in death on Oct. 4, 2012.
She had a passion for cooking and maintained the traditions of Italian cuisine.
She is survived by two sons and their wives, Ralph T. and Joanne Marchese Brunori, Clarks Summit; and Carlo R. and Carol Barron Brunori, Annapolis, Md.; four grandchildren, Ralph A. and his wife, Jenese Chiarelli Brunori, Clarks Summit; Bruce T. Brunori, Mechanicsburg; Altea M. Brunori, Philadelphia; and Carlo A. Brunori, Annapolis, Md.; three great-grandchildren, Chiara Brunori, Philadelphia; Adrian Brunori and Alessia Brunori, both of Clarks Summit; a sister, Della Cherubino, Waterbury, Conn.; nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by an infant sister, Jenny; and her sisters, Pearl and Jenny Santarelli.
The family thanks the entire staff of Abington Manor and also AseraCare Hospice for their concern and care.
The funeral will be Friday at 9 a.m. from the Arthur A. Albini Funeral Home, 1003 Church St., Jessup, with Mass of Christian Burial at 10 in Our Lady of the Snows Church, 301 S. State St., Clarks Summit. Interment, St. John's Cemetery, Jessup.
Relatives and friends may call on Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m.
