Juanita Estus, 74, of Clarks Summit, died Wednesday evening at the VNA Hospice Inpatient Unit of Geisinger Community Medical Center in Scranton. She was preceded in death by her husband of 29 years, Donald Estus, on May 24, 1980.
Born Jan. 20, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Lewis and Frances Richardson Goltra. After raising her family, Juanita worked for Gress Poultry Co. of Scranton before her retirement.
She enjoyed fishing and visiting the Zane Grey in Lackawaxen. As an avid casino-goer, she also enjoyed playing slots and watching horse racing. Family oriented, Juanita opened her heart to both family and extended family alike. Her legacy will live on in her family.
She is survived by her six children, John R. Estus and wife, Susan, Gouldsboro; Keith Estus, at home; Patrick Allen Estus, Jefferson Twp.; Donna Sue Kudrako and husband, Thomas, Dupont; Kathy Jo Geffre and husband, Lonnie, Scott Twp.; and Betty Weist and husband, Bob, Narrowsburg, N.Y.; and many loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Anna Enslin.
Her family would like to thank the entire staffs of both GCMC's Intensive Care and VNA Hospice Units for the amazing care and compassion given to them throughout this difficult time.
The funeral will be April 19 at noon in River Fellowship Church, Cochecton, N.Y., with services by the Rev. Keith Peters, pastor. Arrangements are under the care of the Kevin K. Kearney Funeral Home Inc., 125 N. Main Ave., Scranton.
