Julia Tokarczyk Hoinsky, 94, Carbondale, formerly of Mayfield, died Monday, March 25, in the Carbondale Nursing Home, Carbondale. Her husband, Stanley J. Hoinsky, died in 2005.
Born in Mayfield, she was the daughter of the late John and Anna Wielgos Tokarczyk, Julia was a former member of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, Mayfield, until its closing, at which time she became a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Carbondale.
While at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in Mayfield, she was a member of its Altar and Rosary Society. Julia worked for many years in some of the different dress factories in the area before her retirement.
Surviving are a son, Stanley P. Hoinsky, Apalachin, N.Y., and his friend, Geri Flynn, Jermyn; a daughter, Ann Marie Depoti, Carbondale, with whom she resided before her illness; two sisters, Viola Slacktish, Olyphant; and Mary Ann Wilkes and husband, Philip, Endicott, N.Y.; a brother-in-law, Arnold Tornvall; six grandchildren, Steven Hoinsky, N.Y.; Sandra Depoti and Diane Norton, both of Carbondale; Julie Shygelski and husband, Michael, Mayfield; Lynn Barr and husband, David, Apalachin, N.Y.; and Carrie Rizzi, N.Y.; five great-grandsons, Kyle and Corey Barr, Ryan and Anthony Rizzi, and Zack Hoinsky; and two great-granddaughters, Hailey Norton and Abigail Shygelski.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, John, Joseph and Frank Tokarczyk; and four sisters, Mary Tokarczyk, Irene Gellak, Eleanor Dodgson and Rose Torrwall.
The funeral will be Monday from the Lawrence A. Gabriel Funeral Home, 74 N. Main St., Carbondale, with Mass at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Carbondale. Interment in Sacred Heart of Jesus Cemetery, Jermyn.
