Kenneth Francis Brown II, 60, of Avoca, died Thursday after a brief battle with pancreatic cancer. He and his wife, Loretta Ellis Brown, would have celebrated their 35th anniversary on Jan. 14.
Born in Scranton, son of the late Kenneth F. and Daisy Kimler Brown, he was a 1971 graduate of Pittston Area High School. He served in the Marine Corps and owned and operated Brown's Cleaning Service. Ken was a former member of the Avoca Ambulance and Avoca Fire Department.
Also surviving are children, Kenneth F. Fuller, Christine E. Thomas and husband, Seth; Kenneth F. Brown III and fiancé, Jacki Slater; Amy M. Brody and husband, James; Jennifer L. Brown Winburn, Damian M. Brown, Jonathan R. Brown and wife, Nichole; and Marybeth D. Brown; sister, Jean M. Brown; brothers-in-law, Robert and William Ellis; 18 grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
A memorial Mass will be celebrated Saturday at 9:30 a.m. in Queen of the Apostles Parish, 715 Hawthorne St., Avoca, by the Rev. Philip J. Sladicka, pastor. Marine Corps honors will follow.
Visitation will be Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. in the Victor M. Ferri Funeral Home, 522 Fallon St., Old Forge.
