Leo J. Shuba

Leo J. Shuba, 80, of Scranton, died Sunday evening at Commonwealth Hospice at Regional Hospital of Scranton. His devoted and loving wife of 54 years is the former Joan Manoski, formerly of the Greenwood section of Moosic.

Born June 21, 1933, in Scranton, son of the late John and Lottie Gutowski Shuba, he was a 1951 graduate of West Scranton High School and a proud Navy veteran of the Korean War. Leo furthered his education at Penn State University, where he received his bachelor's degree in accounting and was a member of Alpha Kappa Psi fraternity. Before retirement, Leo worked for 31 years at Eastman Kodak and ESL Federal Credit Union, Rochester, N.Y.

Leo enjoyed antique cars, golf and listening to his shortwave radio. He was an avid Penn State and New York Yankees fan.

Also surviving are a son, Carl, Rochester; a daughter, Denice, Harrison, N.J.; a brother, Joseph and wife, Bonnie, Lancaster; two sisters, Dorothy Slater and husband, Robert, Kearny, N.J.; and Maryann O'Neill, Huntington, N.Y.; an aunt, Pauline Shuba, Miramar Beach, Fla.; a brother-in-law, John Manoski and wife, Rosemary, Shawnee, Kan.; and Mellow the family cat; nieces, nephews and cousins.

The Shuba family would like to express its deepest gratitude to Dr. Gerard Nealon and the entire staff of Commonwealth Hospice for their kindness and compassion they extended to them throughout Leo's illness.

The funeral will be Friday at 8:45 a.m. from the Semian Funeral Home, 704 Union St., Taylor, with Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 in SS. Peter and Paul Church, West Locust Street, Scranton. Interment with military honors, St. Mary of Czestochowa Cemetery, Moosic.
